Xylitol at the Annual FDI World Dental Congress in Stockholm

On the 24th-27th September, the Annual Federation Dentale Internationale World Dental Congress took place in Stockholm, Sweden. This was the 96th event of its kind and drew more than 250 exhibitors, who were demonstrating the latest innovations and equipment in the dental health area.

The Xylitol Information Bureau participated in this event promoting Xylitol and the benefits that it can offer in a wide range of applications, including toothpaste and sugar free confectionery.  The unique dental benefits of Xylitol, which include helping to prevent tooth decay, inhibiting plaque growth and enhancing remineralisation, were promoted along with a selection of Xylitol-containing dental products from around the world.

Promoting oral health with Xylitol

A large number of participants visited the Xylitol stand during the four days. Xylitol is well known amongst the dental community, and visitors showed particular interest in new research on Xylitol and products that are available in different markets which they can recommend to their patients.  The increasing use of Xylitol in children’s toothpaste and babies’ teething gel products, as well as products targeting xerostomia (dry mouth), were popular talking points amongst visitors to the stand.

In all, more than 15,000 dentists & dental professionals from all over the world attended the event and there was a high level of interest in Xylitol.
